Yes absolutely. When there are kids around I can’t be a grump all the time. Just because there are adult things to do too. However, there is a fine line and it was crossed a couple of weeks ago. I have made a commitment to write 4 articles during the week and a much less relaxed pace during the weekend. Yet there are some surprises you cannot account for and sometimes you just have to have some fun with little ones.
Not getting my quota though for more than two days grew heavy on heart a couple of weeks ago and especially missing the devotion shares was eating at me. I needed to purposefully marinate and write on these ideas and 4 kids at once was a lot when I had already made a special time to write.
The next day when two of the 4 girls guilt tripped Papaw. I still didn’t get much done. However, I did have fun giving them extra cookies even though I didn’t know Mamaw had already given out my Red Velvet brownies when they first came in and saw them. I got to observe my edible Christmas creations consumed by little girls who were famished.
Playtime is usually with these girls; they have been over more last year than recent years. Being Selena’s sisters you would think we were overrated, but we seem to be intriguing to them. Then last week I had some cousin time that truly warmed my heart even though I was being dumped in the basement.
Being a Sunday School teacher, helper and everything in between playing with kids has always come naturally. I didn’t think so at first, but when Selena was born having conversations with kids became my second nature. I thoroughly love playing with kids and last Thursday with the wonderful greeting we got from our New Mexico cousins… my heart absolutely melted.
