How have your political views changed over time?-Writing Prompt

How have your political views changed over time?

I don’t think my views have changed. I do know that times have changed though. Revisionist historians have worked hard since I was in high school. I remember Mr. Benson, my history teacher talking about Iran and the Ayatollah Khomeini denying the Holocaust. Now we have American Liberals removing American Heroes statues for one black stain on their virtue. We are to forgive others 70 times 70 times. These men were human beings first but that does not lessen their contributions to this Country and it’s heritage.

My views have been molded from my childhood. The church and my family are why I have those values I hold dear. There are a number of Republicans, Independents and Democrats who do hold these same beliefs. We may not agree on everything, but that has always been an American style. Americans have long enjoyed having different thoughts, but until recently no discourse has been truly enjoyed to enhance any conversation.

Political discourse has been severed. Our history is being dismantled right in front of me. If I had not been personally embroiled in a God-Fearing family I would not have known the difference and might be in the same boat as these college students right now defending Hamas on baseless logic. Fortunately I have a King James Version Bible and I do read it and know the history of the Israel although I would not consider myself a scholar I know enough to know the difference in the our ally and the enemy.

I am a Republican my views have always merged with saving babies and low taxes, law and order. Things I learned from being cocooned around my family including bankers, engineers and farmers and where children were loved immensely. My experiences and my knowledge of the Bible and current events are why I continue to be a Republican although I have actually voted for some Democrats based on their actions.
