A Sweet Day Despite The Shadows

I woke up before 6:30 with a horrible pain in my shoulder blade. Then when I moved around I felt it go down my back more. I used two forms of heat before I got the ice-heat to roll on. Although I needed some help getting it done from Mom.

This really hurt I haven’t had much trouble with my back or shoulders like this in a long time. It was later in the morning when I noticed the snow. The bulk of the snow was literally at Uncle Floyd’s house which was a Godsend for his grandkids.

Our welcoming committee was the sweetest thing I have seen in a long while. The two New Mexico cousins we haven’t seen much of since they were born due to distance jet rocketed into us hugging. Then they started bombarding us with questions. They were asking us our names, but promptly the little girl said I had to go to the basement. Then her big brother also chimed in. I had my jacket on, my purse and a sweater I needed to take off, but they were ready to take me down to the basement to see if there were monsters.

After not having much time with her this was such a sweet encounter though and her big brother was at last year’s July Celebration she was too but got sick and left early. So this was truly a treat to let her be our welcoming committee with such sweet smiles they were both so hard to resist.

Oh my goodness the two grandkids that live in New Mexico were so excited to play in the snow. They did not want to come back into the house.

The two photos are showing the first snowman. It ended up having horns and a red pepper for a mouth with green grapes for eyes as well as the carrot nose. They ended up having somewhere near 5 altogether.

We even got to Face Time with another cousin and his son and wife. The phone literally went from face to face so every adult and child could see the newest addition to our family as of nearly 4 months ago.

Like I said it was a very sweet day.

Even among the wonderful days something always seems to have undertones of sorts. There were still some holes missing that we would have liked to have seen, but life makes getting everyone together difficult sometimes. A dynamic that seeks to derail a family in little ways has been happening. Family is supposed to be the cocoon, your sanctuary, when you need support and encouragement as well as guidance.

All week from not having the communication that was needed Monday morning to today my brother being noticeably late all stems from a lack of respect. A lack of respect from multiple people… sometimes it seems no matter what we do something attacks us from multiple ways in return.

This evening I just need to refocus on the positives from the day. It was a beautiful day of family fun, a charcuterie board and some good Bobes Pizza from Vinncennes.
