Devotional Day #23

Devotion Time Is Nearly Over

Today’s topic was bringing Us to God. I love these Greek words and the meanings that clarifies some of the terms and words used. The phrase monogenes is what Angela is talking about in the beginning of this lesson.

A misunderstanding and confusion of a root word. So monos means only and gennao to beget, bear. Somehow some Greek scholars have found out that the later part of this phrase is from a different verb. Instead the word comes from a noun genos meaning class, kind. This gives monogenes another meaning altogether. “One of a kind” or “unique” in that there is no beginning or ending no original creation timeline is made.

The same idea goes for Melchizedek no beginning or ending. Christ is the same as God He was and He is.

I feel like I should have taken a Greek Class instead of Spanish in high school. Except there were no Greek classes. Learning some of these words has been immensely clarifying. I may have to find a Greek to English dictionary. The detail one word can have in describing each person in the Nativity story is mind-blowing. Joseph being an architect instead of just a carpenter and possibly working at a cultural epicenter only a 2 hour journey from their home. Mary having been named from Moses’s sister Miriam as most women were according to Ms. Hunt.

Adonai thought of everything for this Christmas story. Every piece is so interconnected. Christ came to us and led by example what He wanted us to do in our own lives. He challenges us to be better people. Christ showed us God’s will for us if we believe in Him bringing us to God

Is there any other God who wants His people to come to Him like Adonai, Jehovah does? He has so many names each represents something a different characteristic. Can any other supposed God have these same multi-characteristics?

This study has been such a blessing to read and observe the other comments. The rich heritage of Israel is so vast, beautiful mixed in with times of heartache and battle scarred chapters. God is not done with Israel they are still His people and we Christians who know their history have to thwart the attacks even now with continued prayer. Our prayers are heard and it brings us closer to God when we talk to our Father on a pretty routine basis, not just when there’s time for it on our schedule.
