Today I decided we needed to check another spot for Stocking Stuffers. When we did the Stockings for Grandma Rosemary we had a kind of list of essentials that stayed most of the 15 plus Christmas’s we put these together. Lotions was one of those things along with chapstick. Some essentials that could be Christmassy and wanted throughout the year.
So this morning I wanted to check on these last pieces of the Stocking puzzle for this year. Fortunately for us there were plenty of both kinds. I think it was God’s grace. That and the fact that my foot can only take so long on that flooring before I feel the exhaustion of it.
Then Mom and my brother had an appointment they forgot to let me know about. So I was able to somewhat recuperate in the car while they got seen. The timing was garnering awfully close to lunchtime so we decided to favor Arby’s. Somehow we ordered but was going to wait to order Dad a sandwich once we finished eating there and then. When our order came up I went up to pick up our trays.
Mom and I have this thing where we don’t like it when the other uses our name as the order name. So of course today she used my name. No one knows how to spell my name especially if they don’t hear it well. Some think they hear Joel. When I got to the table the receipt said j which I like better in some way.
Anyhow our waitress came to our table and brought another sandwich with her saying there was an error. James had ordered a Buffalo Chicken and they gave him a Regular Roast Beef. Only by God’s Grace… when we were hesitant to eat out at all at first.
Sometimes God’s little mercies are what give us the little bit of hope to get through the day or the week. The Lord knows what we need and that sometimes these little graces speak volumes throughout the week.
