Devotional Time Again

Today the topics are the Shepherds and the Angels. I was just as amazed that Israelites in the year Christ was born had really very few sheep. There were so many mentions of lambs and sheep and their shepherds in scripture. Shepherds were the poor of the social ladder yet the news of Christ’s birth came to them before the Magi.

Think about that the poor were granted this honor before the wealthy. Although the Magi did take 2 years to get to the young Christ, but ever thing was carried out the way God chose it to be done down to who saw Christ first.

The angel Gabriel was a man. I may have liked watching “Touched By An Angel,” but most likely the angels are men. They will not be at all like we can imagine them to be. Look at scripture the Seraphims and Cherubims have wings up to 6 of them. Goodness… God’s heavenly creatures will be a sight to see for sure. These little details we take for granted hearing the Nativity Story every year from being tiny tots. It’s so great to see the account of Christ’s birth from an adult perspective and this detailed historians eye.
