The last 48 plus hours have been interesting to say the least. Friday night started the ball rolling with the unusual details leading up to my own Saturday morning madness…
A trip to Terre Haute had me over my toilet throwing up the next morning.
We ate at one of the top five favorite restaurants on Grandma Rosemary’s hot spot list. The chicken was amazing that night I thought it was scrumptious. There were two pieces so I thought that would be breakfast. We even ran into my cousin literally, I did, while going to the bathroom. She’s only got no more than 2 months before the baby should be due. We only had seconds before we got separated, but she told me about the scan they just got to see. She absolutely lit up talking about it it was difficult not to be excited just listening to her in that brief exchange.
The next morning everything was fine during breakfast or so it seemed. My niece and her friend came over at the same time I was finishing breakfast. I didn’t feel the nausea or the sweat yet. Something just didn’t sit right. However, the girls wanted my help with making some cards so I had to suck it up and came back in the living room to show them some tips.
I wouldn’t call the first episode throwing up as much as just spitting it out. It was a very unusual feeling for me, but that was just the first time and I thought I felt better but still felt off. Eventually the rest of it came out and it was vomited out, but there was a time during this where I was afraid I wouldn’t make the party. That is what really scared me out of this process missing out of the once in a lifetime party later on that day.
Thank goodness God got me through this ordeal. Although to make sure I wouldn’t also get carsick I sat in the front seat heading to Evansville that afternoon.
Once we got home from the celebration we were overrun by my brothers crew. He had somehow been talked into a sleepover and had another of Selena’s friends over. They were trying to talk him into going to Dairy Queen in Sullivan, but I was impressed he held his own with these 3 girls. What he did promise was to go to the Dollar Store for some ice cream a shorter trip and something that could be managed back at the trailer. He himself has a soft spot for DQ but he had the ton truck and too many girls to herd.
I was writing after being inspired from the birthday party to seeing family in such force as we did. It was absolutely awesome. I also remember thinking Grandma Rosie would be proud. They had a huge platter of shrimp it’s an Alsman favorite; Cocktail Shrimp. I can’t tell you how many of us in our branch I saw go after that shrimp Uncle Floyd, Ian, Anna, Uncle Tony and Dad I believe we ate up all that shrimp.
There was definitely a cloud 9 feeling that evening. It was a very special day to be among our own Alsman Clan each branch represented fully if not completely.
… and I could have missed it because of some bad chicken I ate for breakfast.
