Celebrating a Once In A Life-Time Moment

The restaurant was Biaggi’s down in Evansville. It was wonderful food and a beautiful space. Do you see the ledge of the hearth on the fireplace remember that as you read more!

The Alsman Family hasn’t been together like this in years. Of the 3 Alsman children Maxine, Horace and Fred one died at the age of 10 Ralph. Margaret is Horace’s widow. Horace died at 82 and Grandpa Freddy at 72 and I know Aunt Maxine died shortly after 1985 when our threesome arrived in the world. Me, Lilly and Ian were born three months from each other starting with me and ending with Ian in July. So we have never had a relative make it to a triple digit birthday before.

Tomorrow will be a first for our family. Unfortunately, Aunt Margaret has had some troubles with remembering and with coherency. Yet today she looked wonderful even though she may not have understood what was going on. We celebrate the good days though! She is healthy and was smiling and surrounded by a lot of family today.

This Alsman clan filled this banquet hall today there were more than 50 of us quite possibly 70 if not more. It was such an awesome sight to see.

Our entire family stood in front of this fireplace for a photo this afternoon. Anna being as short as I am convinced me to stand with her in the hearth. Eventually we then convinced another cousin Brooke to also stand on it with us. It was awesome and the waiters took the photos for us. You see where the greenery has stooped quite a bit I was on the right side of that. Anna was on the Left side of that near her Dad who is actually right there and Brooke was beside me to the right.

I cannot wait to see these photos.

This was right before everyone started crowding in on us and before Brooke ventured up on the hearth with us. I thought why not get a selfie with my cousin on top of a hearth and a very toasty fireplace. It’s a once in a life-time scenario for a 100th Birthday Photo.

The Birthday Lady even got a Proclamation from the Mayor of Evansville for her actual birthday tomorrow. Proclaiming it to be her Official Day of the year. It was an amazing afternoon and getting to celebrate it with as many as was able to come for Aunt Margaret. It was precious to see her recognize her family as they came in Joey and Kasey she lit up when they came in. There is a very special bond with grandparents and it was so poignant to see, knowing she doesn’t recognize everyone as well as she used to.

I couldn’t leave without a photo of my first cousins. We were the 3 grandchildren from Fred and Rosemary’s Alsman branch that made it today. A special day just merits special photos. Plus Dad, Brooke and her husband are behind us… it’s the little details from the photos I love. Kasie changed her name sometime ago from Kristen saying she wanted it to be KC instead of Kasey or Casey so I am not sure what to go by. Her boyfriend took this photo for me this is the 3rd one he took. Each one is unique.
