Wonder of Christ Day #7

Devotion Time

Another big day in the Star of Wonder Devotion Book. Understanding has been revealed between this day and on Angela’s added material from Facebook. You think sometimes you know enough to be saved and get through life, but seriously going through this study has been eye-opening.

Today she helped us to see the truth about Christ’s only time in His own synagogue. I have never heard this before described as she is telling it in this 7th Chapter. The uproar in Christ’s home town synagogue was for at least a couple reasons. He mentioned gentiles in Capernaum having more faith than the people of Nazareth did. This insulted them greatly. Then Jesus only read part of the usual reading, this is something new to me that He didn’t finish what they thought He should have.

It turns out what He read was meant specifically for Him to read, because in reading it He was fulfilling scripture that day the other portion was not meant for that day at all. His friends and family didn’t quite understand this idea. They were so insulted they would have killed him that day off a cliff, but God intervened and got Him safely away from his people. “Truly I tell you, ‘No prophet is accepted in his own hometown.’” Luke 4:23

Using Genesis and the story of Joseph with his brothers she mirrored one story with the other. That Christ had to leave Nazareth to reach others even gentiles to reach people who wouldn’t be reached otherwise. Joseph had to leave his family and people to make way for a new chapter in their lives as well in Egypt. He had to hide himself from his brothers for a while in order to save them and a world in famine that only he could save due to the abilities God gave him. It can be a lonely life without those loved ones nearby, but it was necessary for God’s plan to be fulfilled.

Each day reveals something I may have known or not known as well. I have really felt a joy at learning each truth in each day of this book.
