Day# 6 of Devotion Time
Egypt is a special place for God, Adonai. Ms. Hunt again has done her research and 3 times Egypt came to Israel’s rescue in Bible Times. Of course this third time was centuries after Moses happened to the royal family and the Red Sea miracle. All of those events were long gone and written into history thankfully for you and me to know through the Bible. Now this third time Egypt was different more Hellenized, with a Greek population.
Honestly I have had a difficult time with this word Hellenized. I have an Aunt Helen so in my mind when I was younger was the people of Hellen. Plus when I read about Troy and Sparta there was the face that launched a thousand ships, Helen of Sparta. I grew up finally and realized that this means Jews that had some manifestation of Greek influence.
We all have had our ditzy moments and faulty thinking moments, right!
I have also read Mary, The Chosen of God by Diana Wallis Taylor. This book also showed me the gathering of Jews in Egypt at the time of Christ’s birth up to being nearly 2 or possibly 3 years of age before they came back to Nazareth. She brought out many intriguing thoughts I had to digest it was a very compelling book to read.
The God of Israel loved the Jews and they were His chosen people, but Christ showed through his life how gentiles were to be grafted in to be among His chosen people. I am very glad for this amazing truth from scripture. God does not discriminate he answers the pleas from all those who truly want to be saved. Even Egyptians during plight outward so many of the people of Egypt followed Moses and His people and some became woven into the fabric of the nation.
Remember Moses and his Cushite wife? She was accepted by God as his wife. Her name is not given only her original nationality. I wonder why? I love this study getting to see some of the insight from Angela’s knowledge plus pooling from other books I have read and studied from.
One can never know enough so it seems.
