It’s Devotion Time Again
Today’s topic in the Book Discussion was about the Eastern Kingdom. We know the story of the Nativity, but this is so intriguing to read. Angela even mentions a comment her Rabbi has mentioned. What if the magi who actually visited Christ could have been Jewish?
His thoughts were based on the exile of the Jews. It had been lifted during Esther’s lifetime. Mordecai and many others had high positions in the Kingdom during Esther’s time as Queen. So some were still in Persia even as many flocked back to the land promised to their ancestors. It’s just a thought thrown out there to hear.
She doesn’t believe that was the case. It’s really intriguing how God did work in the various ways Christ’s birth. Another special word she uses in this chapter is Shekinah, God’s special presence like the star that guided the magi to Christ.
Angela has so much meat in each of these chapters she has said it was so difficult keeping them short for each day. So on our Facebook Group page she goes into more details somewhat separate from what’s in the devotional.
Goodness this Devotional is really awesome, but it’s also neat to see her notes in our group discussion. She really has done so much research to make sure we see all of the thoughts she has for each specific day in the devotion book.
Still the thought that a Jewish magi maybe plural could have been a very real idea in that time frame is interesting. Yet the story is more impressionable because the were gentile Kings giving the ultimate King of the Universe honor was the point or so I believe.
