Never in my wildest dreams did I ever believe I could write this amount in just over 8 months this year. I have covered a lot of topics in the past 8 months. Many topics that came straight from the news headlines, but also history and family stories.
Goodness… I have shared personal upsets and victories and even Salon visits. My recovery from an ulcer, my eye tear and a car accident not long ago. My family has been front and center in many articles from the start. You have been with me as I have teared up from finding Grandpa’s letters to priceless photos uncovered in our quest to empty out Grandma’s house.
My love for music and history has been in so much of what I post. Songs that have meaning for me that I can’t not think of one specific person when that song is playing. Every day something takes me back to some person from World War 2. I may not have been alive during that era but the effects of those people directed my life; they are called my Grandparents. I cannot talk about myself and what I have without mentioning them. Of course God did have an amazing hand in all of this as well.
My life hasn’t exactly been a cake walk but I can’t complain too much. God gave me a family who loved Him and served Him well. In doing so I learned so much more because I had these examples of serving hearts to follow. Plus it seems like I heard this phrase quite a bit, “you can do whatever it is you put your mind to.” Or “life is what you make of it.”
I remember hearing of revisionist historians as a teen in high school. Now exactly 20 years after my class graduated those psuedo historians not fit to call teachers or historians are tearing down history. I will never completely understand everything about history it is simply too complex to know every sliver. However, I know the Bible and I know that there is nothing new under the sun and that human nature has not changed very much.
History has always been written by the victors. In Ancient Mesoptamia and Sumer and even Egypt history was wiped away by the next King and his people. They were instructed to forget about what may have been the past and concentrate only on the now. Those who do not know the past are doomed to repeat it. We are sadly beginning to sound as bad as these Ancients used to be…
