Hostages

For nearly three years getting off of Facebook and following some Conservatives to Gab and then Telegram; I have become a news junkie. This is not new to some of you who have seen this before. I cannot stay unplugged completely. Telegram is on my phone and my laptop so I’m informed on both. Then I went back to Facebook. Being on top of current events and social media can be confusing and it is difficult to keep up 100%.

All of this to say I haven’t watched all the footage from the Israeli-Hamas exchanges. I don’t like saying cease-fire knowing it’s helping Hamas more than Israel. Yet seeing the looks on some of the hostages faces is heartwarming. One of the young boys had a birthday during the past two months. Someone had helped him take note of the days and knew the day of his birthday.

So far only one American has been freed. There is a specific reason for this they intend to use the hostages to get more and more time for their so-called cease-fire. Not sending home Americans is also sending a message in two ways. Our administration is not working on behalf of our citizens and secondly Hamas is trying to make a wedge in the working relationship of America and Israel slowly tearing them apart.

Hostages are meant to do this to begin with. It’s also why they took so many; they could find out which ones would be more useful strategically speaking to their advantage. It’s as old as time using those you love to force you to make decisions you would not otherwise make. The fortunate thing for Hamas is that most of them were in good shape as far as the older Holocaust survivors; I have not heard their conditions only that they were taken straight to hospitals as soon as possible.

The question now is when is enough. Hamas will dangle hostages everyday to give themselves more time to add to their arsenal to benefit their forces. Hostages are needed to be freed, but what will this do to the Israeli forces?
