When Bryan and I began to converse, in the first month he mentioned his younger brother. This was still very new to me and talking to a New Englander took my words from me… and literally my breath.
I grew up knowing that Massachusetts was integral to the American Revolution as well as Boston and its crucial importance to both sides of the war. So when I found out that my future brother in law was living in Plymouth, MA, I again thought I had colluded with another planet let alone some of my dreams coming true. How incredible for the historian who never actually saw myself falling for a living, breathing New Englander, it was like all I could do not to pinch myself in those earlier days!
There’s nothing more incredible than knowing my family will enlarge and bring new exciting family stories and traditions along with coupling with Mr. James. Dreams I never thought could come to fruition if God so chooses to grant them to us are within my grasp. For the girl who didn’t truly discover my heritage and history in general until I was a teenager this is doubly amazing. The Boston Phil-Harmonic on July 4th; another way my passions collide in my dreams.
Believe me I have had to staunch some of the dreaming with my own brand of skepticism in order to not go bonkers. Books have been my way of exploring history for the most part traveling hasn’t always been a luxury for us as farmers. Even so just having Bryan here with me would be enough; Boston or Plymouth may have to wait for a special time.
It’s funny for me though I am sometimes like a school girl thinking about what we could do. When I was a school girl I was the shy girl who didn’t think about guys only succeeding forward to college. It’s another one of those God kisses where it was just meant to be the way it is; Bryan found me and there’s no going back to the week before his first message.
