A Time for Life & a Season for Death

Last week my Mom talked to one of her friends and found out some sad news. This friend has been a wonderful seamstress when we have been in dire circumstances of actual holy clothes. She has been an angel for us in a cinch.

This lady has been a life-saver as I said, but also one of Mom’s classmates. There are several of our classmates we still see somewhat since high school. Mom graduated with this lady and one of her daughters was a year or two younger than me. We were in band together and she played clarinet as I did.

When Mom originally called last week and found out it seemed like all of a sudden. She knew her classmate’s husband was in bad shape, but didn’t have much to go on. She was antsy not knowing what to do for this good friend of hers during this understandably difficult time. Finally I saw his daughter’s last few posts on Facebook which still didn’t say much but pray for us. I haven’t seen my Mom so frazzled like this, but I have tried to do as she has asked me to to find something out.

Then Tuesday we walked and Mom got the idea of talking to another classmate at her office in town. Bingo! She got to hear the whole sad story from another friend and was able to find out some more specifics on the viewing and funeral. Not exactly the news we wanted to hear. It was a relief and important to get that information and to decide to go in together on a gift for a dear friend.

My niece also likes to go visit Mom’s classmate when they have clothes to take and pick up. She has cats and of course Selena loves to talk. So their trips usually take a little while for some inexplicable reason.

The sad thing is that just as I was writing this Dad found another family friend’s obituary today. This one is equally personal due to the fact she was the wife of one of my Veteran’s and she made some pudding that was absolutely good to the last drop!
