What is good about having a pet?-Writing Prompt

Well for kids it’s good to learn how to take care of someone else. See how a pet requires water and food throughout the day. Learning how to put their needs ahead of your needs when necessary. Right now I am learning even as an adult with our dog’s accident that she can’t protect herself from the infection that could take over her wound. We have to help her take care of her ministrations so an infection doesn’t happen.

An outside pet also helps children to spend time outside playing with their pet. Which means some time with no devices and getting some essential fresh air. For adults and children it is companionship, someone to worry over even when it’s not technically your dog.

There is also a whole other side to this coin of service animals that is amazing to observe. Animals whether they are in service to you for specific reasons or your pets add such a benefit of sweetening your life a little bit.

My allergy to dogs and cat dander didn’t materialize until I was a teenager, but we never had them inside our house while my brothers and I were growing up. So my allergy never made a difference until I was much older. Sometimes going to other houses not knowing whether animals are in the house or not can be uncomfortable for me. Actually I had been to several houses with animals in it and it was over time of feeling weird and having some horrible migraines that I finally put 2 plus 2 together.

I still have my original allergy list from when I first started to have to take shots. Yet like I said the animals were outside so I didn’t recognize how I could react to cats and dogs.

For some reason Emu’s were not on that list… I also have a fondness for them too.
