Love can be placed up against any backdrop and tell similar stories no matter what time period of history or age of the couple. That is the beauty of love it is absolutely timeless.
Reading is such a wonderful experience I tend to think of it as watching a slow motion movie a chapter at a time. So much that sometimes I get so into the books that later after finishing the book maybe a second or 3rd time it feels like that was a movie I watched when I try to remember where did I see that before. Then of course I remember… oh right I read it and it was a movie all in my head that I was reading.
One of those special uniquely designed storylines was made by Kate Breslin and the book she named ‘For Such A Time’. I could write a book on how this book has affected me and the more than a dozen of times I have read this beautifully tortured plot. Breslin is a genius, God must have given her such a keen mind to have found such an intriguing idea and to have brilliantly pieced it together even for historical fiction.
Honestly, as far as I know my family doesn’t have any Jewish heritage although I could be wrong we do come from Germany originally. Yet Nazi’s were my enemy even decades later with the war over. It was Dietrich Bonhoeffer and Count von Stauffenberg that should me not all Germans were as heinous as others were. Humanizing them was extremely difficult until the day I met a college student from Germany. That day my heart softened towards the woman who could have been my sister if my family had ultimately stayed in Germany.
Two songs came into my mind as I continuously read this book. Finally after I couldn’t quench away the urge to play around with these two songs I figured out how to twist them together. The first song is one my parents had on a cassette we listened to over and over again in the car. This is still a favorite song of mine ‘He Is Jehovah’. The second song is ‘El Shaddai’ another song I loved learning the language in it to sing it right.
Performing this song felt awesome and I was able to do it a few times. Then I was able to add in my clarinet the last couple of times. ‘He Is Jehovah with the clarinet harmonizing with the piano is extraordinary. I received more than I ever thought I could from the purchase of this book.

Love stories are timeless and no one knows what God has in store for each story. God’s truth is also timeless no matter the person or couple in the story whether they are Jewish, German or even American.
