Hoosiers Everywhere Are Mourning

Growing up in Southern Indiana there aren’t too many of us who don’t know the name Bobby Knight. This coach is legendary and my Dad just happens to also be a high school basketball player back in his day. I have seen the video of him throwing the chair multiple times in my life even though it happened the year I was born.

Last night I learned something though. On Truth Social President Trump had a message about him. He was one of the first people to endorse him in the 2016 election. He could be a very controversial coach, but he was on the money with this endorsement if I say so myself.

Normally, I am not the sports enthusiast, but this is major news. Although my family is literally split into two sides the Purdue Boilermakers and the Indiana University side. The Bishop side being on the IU side and the Alsmans on the Purdue side. I literally have graduates of both Universities split between family lines. If it wasn’t absolutely steadfast on the Alsman side I would be laughing, but it is. Yet I do love my family both Purdue graduates and Indiana University graduates.

I wonder if the other 49 states have as many family problems as our state does with this very issue! I know my family is not the only one who has the rivalry mix. I cannot wear anything IU to the Alsman side festivities without being questioned. Thankfully there is no adamant hearing though on the Bishop side.

When we went to the state fair this year I had to laugh at this one piece made for the fair. I also had two cousins Anna and Lilly who played basketball our grandparents spent so much time watching us in sports, our musical events, anything that had one of their 8 grandchildren in they were there for it. I do remember Anna talking about the Pacers quite a bit as well and she is one of our Purdue graduates.

How many kids were inspired to play because of this Hoosier Coach? Is it ironic that this year the theme of our State Fair was Basketball?
