A Fall Twist On A Family Classic

Some of my early memories come with food in this house we are having the Estate Sale within. I have seen myself with my grandparents eating ice cream as a birthday girl. There are so many memories.

One of the number one recipes I and my cousins and Aunts would say of my Grandma Betty’s would be the Baby Ruth bars. Hands down it would be top number 5 recipes for certain. Daddy has mastered this recipe himself as well. I have watched and observed him he is meticulous with measurements and he does love his sweets.

The original chocolate masterpiece is amazing. Lately though, some different twists have been in my mind. Some things I have been wanting to try out. So I wondered what if I changed the toppings just a little bit or maybe a lot.

So earlier this year we went through Grandma’s freezer. These cranberries came from her supply. I readied the cranberries for a filling spiced them up and thickened them and made the syrup next to it for the bottom with the rice krispies. I layered the cranberries between caramel.

Today at the sale my Aunts got to try this dessert. I got good reviews from them. The bottom doesn’t want to stick together as well as Grandma and Dad have mastered but the taste is there and warm it up for a few seconds and that might even allow it to stick better.

This was in fact my breakfast for this morning!

Have you had the guts to change a family recipe? I admit I was unsure how it would come out? I am glad it had a welcome response though. The classic though, will still be a beloved recipe.
