The First Day

My alarm was set for 6:50 am. Mom and I made it to Grandma’s house literally five minutes before 8 am. Already a line of cars were at the house. It’s a good thing we weren’t the ones to open the house and the garage this morning. My goodness though our lane was crowded.

I knew my jurisdiction would be the inside of the house unless my other skills were needed. My aunts and one uncle all have cashier experience and customer service skills under our belts. Seems like it’s a family trait huh?

The morning went fairly smoothly and a lot of the big furniture was sold. It was a unique experience watching our customers come in. Two young men visiting from California came in and actually had a mini concert in our front room. They looked like hippie’s, but they were accomplished musicians from what I heard. One was fair-haired and the other reminded me of a Chinese Virtuoso, it was such a treat to hear his fingers touch Grandma’s ivories.

Wow so much happened in such a short time-frame. A lot of people came through our doors and looked at our merchandise. So much for sitting down while being in the house! My feet are still hurting and I wore good walking shoes and put my cream on this morning.

Plus the blessing of today was the friends who came by to look and have some conversations and ask about Grandma. Unfortunately, yesterday she had another fall, we heard about it this morning… she seems to be okay with just some scratches. The staff of her residence have been good to be there quickly and that gives us relief.

Now we get to start all over again in the morning for Day 2!
