Photo Dump “My Parents Wedding Shower”

In the newest photo dump of my family history these were a part of it. My Grandma Betty is wonderful. She saved everything from us grandchildren and her children and of hers and Grandpa’s.

One of the major reasons for this is due to the fact that she was raised during the Great Depression. There are very few ways my generation or my parents generation could truly understand what that was like for our elders. It is in knowing them and seeing how they literally pinched pennies and used up as much of their garden matter and canning space as possible.

Having a look into what my elders had to work with during that time is a blessing. It teaches us what was and to be careful with what you do have. As my generation now knows through ‘Bidenflation’ and ‘Covid’ if you don’t have your health or any kind of a paycheck we could be easily in dire straights with no one to help us out.

My parents wedding album is full and I have seen it, but I had not seen this card before. It’s very sweet and intricately romantic. Grandma even wrote on the envelope the specifics of what was inside this envelope; she’s pretty amazing.

Underneath these items is a plastic clipboard, again that’s most definitely Grandma’s handwriting. The photo I also had not seen. I suppose I hadn’t seen as much from the wedding shower as I have from the wedding photos. So when Mom told me my Great Aunt Dorothy made this beautiful cake I was a bit surprised. Her reunion special those last few years was beef and noodles I didn’t know she made fancy cakes like this one at all.

Aunt Dorothy made this ‘Wedding Shower’ Cake

So the Wedding Shower took place at Dad’s parents Church, The Methodist Church of Pleasantville. He had switched Churches to court a certain young lady. This photo down here is Aunt Dorothy.
