Do you like to prepare for taking a hike or is something you do spontaneously?

Somehow I inherited my Grandpa Leo’s flat feet. So I have had hiking experiences that have left me literally in pain. I remember the Easter weekend we spent at Turkey Run that was a difficult hike for me. Not only did it kill me I ended up having to throw my shoes away due to the mud they got soaked in. Fortunately I think they were old shoes.
I cannot remember the year that happened but it was after Grandpa Freddy died and this is where she fell. We were there for one night we went to eat dinner and were coming out of the restaurant and building. Grandma Rosie missed the first step and we all heard it and turned right back around to see what happened. Of course, she refused an ambulance, but she thought she was fine… she wasn’t.
As we were leaving the pain started to settle in and Uncle Tony and Mike took her to Union Hospital. She had surgery late that night I still remember how long that night was and it was my Spring Break from College. My uncles and their wives, Mom and Dad and I sat waiting to hear from the surgeon that evening well past 11 pm.
That kind of put a stop to our State Park Recreational days real quick. It took Selena, my niece to come around I think before we went to a park again several years later.
