The tornado did massive damage back on the evening of Friday April 4th. I can still remember that night. Mom and I had to go to the basement. The tornado seemed to head right towards the camping area of the park. It was decimated. The Nature Center now has a video journal of what damage took place. The map shows red marking the affected areas which equals about 1/2 or more of the park.
Trail Number 3 is partially closed. It is the one that leads to the waterfalls so thank goodness we could still get to the falls. Still there were trails to hike and places to enjoy. Mom and I enjoy walking at the nearby Cemetery, but this was fun hiking in a different place watching squirrels flutter about. Our hike was 1.2 miles and then our shorter hike to the waterfalls was maybe half a mile more.
Our 35 minute walks gave us the buildup and momentum to be able to take on these hikes. It was awesome.

Do you enjoy your State Parks as much as you should?
