Today has been like the day after. As I spoke with my cousins last night I said it’s been an emotional day taking stock of the Church from when we left 6 years ago to yesterday. I knew some people had left in different phases, but the reality of it was forceful.
Waking up to the complexity of emotions was a little rough trying to get in gear to write for the day. Part of my problem is just being an emotional woman. Yet on a beautiful day a trip for some good food was what I needed as well as some karaoke music for the drive.
Years ago Uncle Mike gave me my first CD of Shania Twain’s music. It had her hit songs on it. Then I bought another CD after that. Today I drove for the first time since my accident to Terre Haute, this music helped me calm down and at the same time took me back to being a young girl.
Uncle Mike’s smile and laughter also came to my mind with this music. I miss him so much at times… remembering his fondness for Shania and her music gives me something good to remember his loving and fun demeanor he had.
Sometimes memories need to be unearthed. My Uncle Mike was so full of life; I don’t want to forget him and what made him special as an Uncle. Music was one of our common denominators we enjoyed besides teasing each other mercilessly.

Do you need some kind of music to listen to lift your spirits when needed? Did you have a special Uncle that could get you to laugh when you needed to the most?
