Family Reunion: A Prayer of Thanks For Family Time

Thank you Lord, for our annual Bishop Family Sunday Afternoon gathering yesterday. Sometimes these feel stressful and exhausting. On Saturday I looked through some of my grandma’s photo albums. There were two old articles about both sides of the family the Lesters and the Bishops having Reunions for 44 years one on side and just as many if not more on the other. It was hard to not look at them and smile.

These are old clippings from past reunions. I was mentioned in the first article with my parents.

Lord, you have been a necessity in my family on all sides pretty much. I Thank you and Praise you for having this special knowledge and to have the ability to continue these family gatherings. They aren’t always easy to get everyone each year, but we all try our best and the ones that do show up are blessed with the interactions.

You have given me amazing elders that have shown wonderful examples to us younger generations. Specifically, I got to have photo conversations with my Grandpa Leo’s last two living siblings. Sometimes… I really wish I could have asked him more questions. I heard one of my dad’s first cousins say that yesterday. I have said this many, many times myself.

Another cousin mentioned in relation to the photos that isn’t it something that these people had so little money… yet they thought it important to have professional pictures taken. Apparently our parents and grandparents were right… cause these beautiful old photos show us something deeper we couldn’t see once we came along later on in their lives.

After all, a photo is worth a thousand words.

Lord, you have given my family so many amazing cooks and I know we all appreciate that gift as well. My pickles went over well the ones with garlic in the recipe and the Mediterranean ones I believe as well as the original recipe.

Watching the newest generation of kids playing around is always such a wonderful blessing. Thank you Lord for the Gift of Family and Sunday Afternoon Reunion Dinners.
