2023 State Fair: Art & Needle Craft

A week ago we visited the Indiana Fair and enjoyed some buildings we hadn’t been in for a while.

Well we used to have certain things we did when we came as a big family. The Dairy Barn, we didn’t even walk past it we went through the animal buildings instead for some reason. Usually without missing a beat it was like the magnet for our family. A meeting place. Then when we started coming on our own after Grandpa died we started eating at the Pork Tents more instead or a little of both in between.

Do you have a routine for fairs? Or do you change what you see for one reason or another?

Anyhow we skipped some stuff putting us in front of the Arts Building where there was some Woodworking right in front. I don’t remember seeing that before so that might have been new I’m not certain.

When I got inside this building I began to feel the need to have a drink and my stomach was nauseated. However, that did not undercut the brevity of emotions I felt when I saw the Needle Craft section. It was like the entire state of Indiana was in my head. These pieces were ideas I have either worked on or wanted to work on in the past 5 years. I was floored by the artwork I had wanted to do that had been done by someone else. Maybe the word I daresay is green-eyed.

The other thought was wow a lot of other people think like me. That kind of hit me a bit. That and it was time or time getting close to taking my next pills. Yet I was doing really really good that day.

Congratulations to all these Artists for these talents! From needlework, painting to woodworking. It was all inspirational!

This one was fun for me because the Alsman Family loves Purdue, but the Bishop Family loves IU. I have to admit I have never been to the Purdue Campus, but I was a part of Band Day at IU so I can’t even say I am torn between the two. However, I have some Family, dare I say the Alsman’s, that couldn’t stomach this quilt.
