Thoughts On This Sunday Evening

So my Mom likes to talk. Saturday morning she went to the pharmacy and let out enough of my accident and my symptoms to alert the pharmacist. She promptly called me to say, we need to take you to the ER to get checked out. My face drained I was already exhausted whatever adrenaline I have had since the accident had disappeared. We actually walked that morning as well too, but my head started a bit earlier Saturday morning and just before Mom called me my hands started feeling like pins and needles.

Unfortunately, I knew Mom was right… I needed to get checked out. I guess I thought as long as I didn’t see a doctor I could believe nothing was wrong. I stayed busy Thursday and Friday… but day number 4 was just too much…

My diagnosis was Migraine Concussion, how incredible the doctor said this is what football players usually have when they get hit in the head. So I am officially up there with football players; wasn’t sure I was really hoping for that likeness. My doctor was also stuck on the fact that I was closer to 40 and not a teenager. He was literally dumbfounded with my age and actually due to the mixture of drugs they gave me; I couldn’t actually remember my age.

I had to really ask mom a bit later what my age was… I was that loopy!

Yes, I have to admit going did make me feel better. However, they told me to simply do the same things I was already doing until I visit my regular physician this week. I thought for sure my headaches weren’t migraines, because I have had much worse migraines before. Please get checked out if you find yourself in a similar situation. Don’t be a silly goose like me and hold out. I nearly went Thursday, but when my niece came over I took it as a sign to not worry and enjoy the last of our week with her.

Things happened the way they did for a reason I suppose, but I have learned a lesson. Once again, I am, just as stubborn as my parents are too!!

Doctors orders are to rest, drink plenty of water, and restrict my screen time… yes this will be difficult. It has already been difficult. Yet my head is worth some restriction efforts.

Stay tuned to see what happens this week…
