Jewells of Thought

This evening before we take her home to mom’s a little girl got another chance to show off her adeptness peeling tomatoes for canning purposes. In such a short week she has mastered this portion of the process.

Tonight we were able to get another batch of cucumbers and tomatoes inside to work them up. Mom and Selena working on tomatoes and me working on my future pickles.

It’s been fun watching her pick up on some of this slice of gardening. While we were all working individually on our tasks at hand I kept hearing this phrase. My girl, kept saying here’s ‘a naked tomater’ with each freshly warmed and peeled tomato. It became an actual thing to hear over and over. She was happy, excited and working so I was enjoying listening to her and her process.

We wouldn’t have been able to get as much done without our little girl helping us. Selena was zealous in her job and worked quickly. So much that she surprised Mammaw with exactly how fast the tomatoes were disappearing from the counter into the next phase.

Garden vegetables are so much fun.

Now if we could only get her to eat them!
