Angels are a wonder to us from what little we know about them from scripture. The angel Gabriel who spoke to Mary. Christmas is one time we really talk about angels, even if it is more on a commercial basis. To the world they are seen as Fairy’s or Leprechauns as magical beings which is true they do have powers. We won’t fully comprehend them until we meet them at the appointed time, though.
We cannot fully know what God and His Holy Beings do for us mortals on a daily basis. There is a song of Amy Grant’s detailing that very thought. Little things we sometimes hear about later if we missed something only to find out literally 5 seconds the person after us got hit in a crash that should have been us. Things happen like that more than we could ever know. Yet, how many times did an Angel say, “Fear Not” to the person they were speaking to at the moment.
We are not to fear life day to day, but to trust God in life’s ministrations and to hold fast to Him. Think also of the wise men who followed a star to Christ. This caravan was large and held several Kings who had diligently read and studied the stars and what information they could get their hands on. Something about this specific star spoke to them. God spoke to them through this amazing supernatural light.
God beckoned them to follow and they did. Unlike our more recent Christmas traditions the Kings of Orient did not come until after Christ was born. The actual stories of the Angel and the migrating Kings are the most integral Gospel of Christ’s birth.
The Angel foretold Mary’s birth, but the Kings came to bow down to the King of the World.

Are you ready for this Christmas Season? I don’t mean the presents and the parties are you ready to bow down to your Lord and Savior? Angels won’t be able to make the decision for you. Will you be humbled as those Kings of Orient were?
