Time for Pickle Canning

Sorry folks, our cucumbers have literally been boiling over our island in the kitchen. The day my eye problem happened was the day Mom and I were to set out to make our pickles. It didn’t happen. So today has become the day to finally tackle this duty. Maybe just the first day of a two-day duty. We’ll just have to see. We do like our pickles!!

I have a 4th article that’s mostly done. I may still get it finished before the evening is gone. The cucumbers are pretty important!

Today was the first day we have had to work on them and when I saw we I mean me with some help. Mom has helped but my hands have done all the cutting. She has assisted with the herbs and we both have worked with the warm lids and jars.

Plus we got our first taste of Sweet Corn today. My uncle brought us over a batch this morning. So what we had left I cut off of the cob and froze it. We used to freeze tons of sweet corn every year. Things change, but our corn should be ready in the next week or so. I don’t know if it is an Indiana or a Farmer thing, but we Hoosiers like our Sweet Corn, especially us Farmers!
