This is an excellent question. The Alsmans and Bishops love games and I played them. Card games Gim Rummy, Old Maid, Uno, Checkers, Chinese Checkers was a favorite to play with Grandpa Freddy. On the Bishop side my favorite game was Chutes and Ladders a board game. Through the years I remember playing as teenagers with my cousins and having them switch the rules in gin rummy on me a time or two and these are my first cousins, my age.
Now just this past Christmas I played with the newest generation of my cousins on the other side of my family. Playing games hasn’t been on my list of dos lately. I don’t play these types of games much anymore instead on my phone I play a word game called Wordscapes.
However, I was in a good mood this particular Sunday for some reason even though my life was upside down at this point. I played uno with a couple of my aunts an uncle and a very mischievous little girl. Already before this game I relented and played a new version of Chutes and Ladders with her I won somehow, but she didn’t like that so she made a decision.
My little cousin made our board game and this little stinker made it where she would always win and she did it twice; we stopped after the second time. So when we started playing Uno, I knew to keep up my guard knowing she was sneaky. Her own Grandparents, my Aunt Rita and Mel weren’t immune to her attempts at cheating either. She definitely keeps us all on our toes.
