American Pride Month

Pride is normally something that comes before a fall. Scripture is full of prideful men and women taking their own courses of action. Babylon comes to mind simply because my Church recently had a Vacation Bible School with the decorations vibrant like the city of Babylon would have been that seems a bit ironic right for inside a Church. However, the focus of the week was Daniel and his feats by the hands of God.

If it weren’t by those very feats and the writers God used to between Moses, Daniel and Paul the men who came to these very shores in the 18oo’s had a guideline. The more I learn about those early settlers and their influence the more amazed I am and grateful to have been born in their Country. There are several letters including a familial tie to a letter signed by some pretty amazing names from that time and place in the American Colonies. The date of all these letters coincides together.

There is just something so sweet so powerful to know my family was already here on American soil by 1733, I have an awesome Bishop cousin, who became a Daughter of the American Revolution and did all of the difficult handiwork that I can just look over and see first hand evidence. I am told there is also a whole book also made by Bishop’s in the Civil War. This is why I love history. It only took me 13 years of my life to comprehend for myself alone how important it was to know before I could share these beautiful facts with others.

As a teenager I thought I was a bit odd taking to these wars as I did after Grandpa died. Everything connects together. This country is extraordinary, because our first countrymen cried out to God to create a nation under Him and Him alone. We with our little band of an army couldn’t have done anything against the behemoth of the British. God allowed the enemy to be blinded, He also gave his fighting men with conscience and a backbone. Our first Allies of course, France, did help immensely with their fleet and personnel. If you have watched ‘The Patriot’ with Mel Gibson that was not a very easy decision for them to make, but still benefited them in the end.

Our 30th President has a very moving speech he gave about the ‘Destiny of America’. There is a section about our founders having been sifted for their specific thought or how they were taught. Most of those early settlers were taught straight from the Bible. Now there’s a thought. Churches were the first classrooms in America.

Is that where our Education Department belongs?

One of the good things about my Alma mater UHS, now as a Charter School is sponsored by Grace College.

My parents and I were watching Sergeant York a couple of weeks ago. It’s a long movie, but a really good movie and has one of my favorite actors. Gary Cooper doesn’t want to kill, but what I love is that his own Commanding officers use Bible examples as to why it can be a necessity to kill in battle.

America has saved lives because we strive to be better. Others say we aren’t there yet. No one is perfect our leaders across the domestic landscape are made up of different cultures in our melting pot. We are so much better than we were in 1776 when all we had was a Declaration and a Will.

Our only problem is people who refuse God being our prevailing authority. He gave us this nation and in doing so we were to uphold His will in our lives. This nation has been abundantly blessed for over two centuries. There is a Biblical curse if you bless Israel you will be blessed and if you curse Israel you will be cursed. We have a House of Representatives that has overlooked this scripture lately, well… much longer most likely.

We should always be proud that God has honored our Country through our ups and downs. Pride for our Country is unlike the Babylonian Pride. Fortunately though our one God took the prideful Nebuchadnezzar, and many preachers believe, this man became humbled, because of Daniel and the wondrous works of the Almighty Hand of the One God, this king may in fact be with our God and King. This is the God of our Country. A God to be proud of supporting our Country and us as a Christian Nation.
