A younger Generation…

The other night I finally got a chance to spend some time on the typewriter. It was special for me to get to experience something that used to be so common. Watching enough World War II movies with the secretaries of the War Department on their typewriters typing paperwork and letters for American families with loved ones serving. Those thoughts have always been in my head since watching “Saving Private Ryan” and many more.

This is by far a little different… being newer and from the 1970s with a beautiful shade of blue. Still the sound of it being on and humming and the strokes of the keys it is a surreal feeling to nearly hear those images in my mind as I now can do that same thing here and now.

There are various reasons money, finding a good typewriter with the accouterments it needs isn’t easy to always find. To be able to have this family typewriter seems like nothing less than a blessing.

Last evening I was able to share that excitement with my niece. I didn’t realize she was as excited as I was and it was really cool to share that with her. I even got to take better pictures of her typing than I could of myself doing the same thing. So I had some fun with just talking her through turning it on putting the paper in and typing a couple of sentences.

Seriously though did two of her first three typed sentences have to be about dogs? Someone might think she likes dogs? She only has 3 at her Dad’s and our 1.

Surely she could have written about her favorite cool Aunt, right, that was letting her type in the first place?
