A Block Button

When I thought of this new category off the top of my head I hadn’t thought through the broad scope. My American Letters are the main idea covering Christmas Cards, Post Cards and Letters from Servicemen, and Text messages from one certain couple. The reason I created this topic will officially come in August, but honestly I am having fun exploring the idea of what a letter or missive means and the fact that these have all been created by Americans.

Not everything has been all sunshine and roses for my online relationship. Sometimes we block each other out at times. Unfortunately I am the blocker more than the blockee. I think I just created a new word there. I mean this is part of the give and take of a relationship and we have grown a lot in our disagreements.

With the 20/20 vision and vantage point of seeing my Grandpa’s letters to my Grandpa I don’t remember seeing any disagreements between them come up. They are sweet literally talking about ice cream and funny giving his money away and owing other people. It’s a side of him I never got to see of him or probably any of us grandkids.

There are glimpses of that side in Bryan as well, but there is a fiercely passionate side I have also seen in our exchanges.

When I first read these words all I could do was smile. Either 24 to 48 hours had passed with no word he knows I don’t like that either. I at least get a Good Morning Love, or Hunnnie and yes he adorably adds several n’s. Maybe it’s a Boston thing or I’m just too smitten with my New Englander!

This is my response…

So we already know this was not how my grandparents communicated with each other on either side of my family. They were definitely old school. They got to meet each other face to face. What a concept, right! Although one couple was set up by my great-grandmother Jeannette. Still with her on their dates they saw each other. Both couples met and didn’t need correspondence to fall in love.

This is Bryan’s response…

My grandparents didn’t know what an emoji was either. Now I have double-trouble with them because Bryan and Selena love to send me their hearts with emojis!!
