This question is like trying to answer which of your six children do you love the most? I was raised in Church by musicians. So hymn-gospel music was my first love. Over the years, though of course, I grew up and so did my musical tastes.
Grandpa Freddy’s influence would be why I enjoy Jazz and Big Band. The Lawrence Welk Show every Saturday Night was also very influential on me. Really the only music I don’t dabble with is Rap I have to have some standards. If it doesn’t sound good; I’m not listening to it or singing it.
Whatever the genre, if it wouldn’t please the ears of Christ I don’t want to partake in it. This did not come easily though. Melodies have a way of tempting my voice. If I’m not careful the lyrics trap me in a musical phrase singing words that I should not be singing portraying situations I would not allow myself to be in.
Love of music also means knowing your standards and not going out of ones boundaries like for me Rap and even some of Country music.
