Kids Time Again

Why is it that I find myself around kids all the time and end up playing with them as easily as you can say 1,2,3… and A,B,C? I don’t have kids, but I always fall into the Aunt Trap!

Monday night one of my little cousins came in with his dad he finally lost his tooth. One of the first things that came to my mind was Selena’s recent tooth. She lost it while eating food. He never paid me any interest, but she heard me ask him if he ate any macaroni and cheese. I got such a look from her and then she looked at her Uncle James who also remembers that night she lost her tooth. Yet that little guy was so happy nothing else mattered at the moment. That look I got from my niece though was pure, ‘don’t you dare tattle on me’.

The boys were amazing to be around that night. They are growing up so fast They are both so smart and the younger one is a crackerjack wiseguy and the older one is very sensitive, but is talking and looking us in the eye at the same time now. It’s so wonderful to see these changes as I see in my cousins on the other side of the family nearly weekly sometimes.

Now trying to write this so much happened that night I had my paper and left it inside the house or in the car. The boys did and said so many funny and sweet things that I can’t seem to remember now which is why I keep that book with me to write notes.

These boys had so much fun with Sparklers and even Roman Candles with their daddy, grandpa and great-uncle watching them. Sometimes being up at the house filled with family It’s hard to not think our grandparents would be thrilled, another July party at the house with fireworks. The original man who gave both Uncle Floyd and Denny the license to play with pyrotechnics. Now allowing their grandsons to be part of the fireworks team.

My cousin Anna is the ultimate supermom she had noise reducing headphones for the boys. She may have been Anna-Banana, but she was the oldest of us grandkids and I have always looked up to her even though she and I are both littler than Lilly. She trumps both of us by a few inches unfortunately. Which is why she was good in sports, both of them were, I played one year of volleyball and that was it for me.

Kids in this family had fun and we had loving grandparents watching us and rooting, encouraging and applauding us. Just as these kids had Monday night. There are countless memories on these Alsman Acres…
