The movie ‘Mr. Holland’s Opus’ comes to mind. Being a teacher wasn’t his idea of a job, he was an artist and wanted to perform. Isn’t that life though, we want this, but God leads us in a different way to show us how much influence we can have with our talents. Grandpa took our whole family to watch this show when it debuted in theaters. It became a favorite tear-jerker of mine and now I have it on DVD.
I have had some really good teachers, even ones that my mom and uncles had when they were in school. Each one was unique including my college professors. Teachers I think want to know they have made a difference and helped a student to understand their subjects well.
A good teacher knows how to read his or her students. They know how to listen and when they are needed to add a little added wisdom in the students direction. Maybe I watched too much ‘Saved By the Bell’ or ‘Full House’ or any one of the 90s teens sitcoms.
