How frustrating are obstacles? When you are mowing?

My first inkling or thought of mowing always seems to be synonymous with farming. Without farming I don’t know that any of us would have been as able to have some of the equipment or the farming services we had that also helped us as mowers. These jobs worked well together and for our family.
One of the many obstacles I had to deal with over the years was here in our own back yard. Although, the neat freak in me hated to get anyone’s car bombed with grass. I would meticulously mow around the vehicle to let not one piece of grass on it from my mower. That is after I waited as long as I could and mowed every other place I could with that riding mower.
This mostly happened when cars were parked before we got to Aunt Dorothy’s. Then usually once we started they would leave and I wouldn’t have to worry about bombing them. It was simply a fact of mowing it also happened at Grandma’s if anyone parked in a certain spot or in the front yard before we got there.
There was just something about if I let myself get sloppy our reputation as good mowers could suffer and that was always in the back of my mind. I wanted the yards to look good when we finished.
I remember having to stop going over Aunt Dorothy’s roots with the rider due to the roots attacking the mower. I had to either raise up the blade or just use the weed-eater, which is what I usually would end up doing. Goodness I do miss her.
Have you had to mow around a combine and bean or corn heads or grain tractors?
Our big yard during any time of the mowing season could be filled with all or one of these any given day or week. It was like seeing how far you can go and not hit any part of the vehicles or equipment. Sometimes if we were lucky the guys would be able to move them around for us. That was not always an option though and when it wasn’t It frustrated me, but I had to let go of it and as soon as we could; get it finished. I don’t know sometimes I think I truly have OCD tendencies at times.
Is it funny I have so many different memories that can flood my mind from mowing?
You know what? I still think it was pretty incredible my family farmed and I got to watch my guys use and fix that equipment. There was something special about farming and working together as well as mowing. We made it through lots of obstacles over the years together as a family
I have always loved that that was my childhood as well as young adulthood with my family.
