In college I worked in the Compliance Office, we were in the office of the Dean of Students. Then our office was moved into the Presidential Suite, which was awesome.
Before we moved into the top floor I had an interesting bathroom stop. At Christmas Time we kept a radio on playing an Evansville station it was Christmas all the time and I loved it until the first time I heard that song. This could have been the first Christmas after Grandpa Freddy’s death or a year or two later. I wish I could remember precisely.
There was a song Grandpa would hum while I chauffeured both him and Grandma to Church. When I was learning to drive he had me drive them to church and I could always hear him humming the melody to Christmas Island. When the song first popped up on the radio I couldn’t hide my emotions even in my area that had walls up. Patty heard or saw my tears and we shared stories. No matter how many times I heard that song while I was working tears came every single time without fail.
So I would go to the bathroom to wash and dry my face. One of my past supervisors from the Admissions Office caught me in one of these instances. She had a thought she shared with me. The idea I am left with after over a decade is that my emotion shows how much he loved me and vice versa. Her words were so comforting.

Goodness… I miss the people I got to know at that campus because of my Dad and my Grandpa. I find it so God-like how different things in my life have dove-tailed and complemented so well.
There’s a song Dad and I have sung many times with Mom as our pianist. In His Time. My life is nowhere near perfect, but having the men in my life has given me my purpose in life. Grandpa Leo inspired my college degree and the reason I fought to finish my degree. Only having to quit college twice in my life.
My Dad is a very gifted wood-worker, who doesn’t get as much time to do so. He made this clock and it was at his Mom’s for a long time until just recently. There’s something about how God has uniquely placed these men with their particular skills into my life. Each man has had an endearing and enduring mark on my life and that is all because of God’s Timing and His intricate handiwork like this beautiful clock.
