There are two ways to look at this question. What does that mean to have a good life? And for who? The way the world and Christians look at life is different. I could go by the Carthage Series that I finished for the 4th or 5th time to show the differences.
Which is better to watch the man who imprisoned your mother into slavery and a very rough pregnancy or to let him die while he rots inside out? Which takes more will power?
How could a Solicitor of Carthage allow a fellow statesman, a Senator, to enter his home after this Senator voted to exile him a year earlier in order to save his daughters life? Especially after this Senator denied the Solicitor his daughter’s hand in marriage due to a lie?
Life could be easy if we keep to ourselves in our own little corner. However, Matthew in the New Testament shows Christ’s mandate to His people. They were to spread the gospel worldwide. How can a patrician of noble birth show he is a changed man than by giving his home as a hospital to all in need of medical care. How does a slave show their love for his or her patron or master? Or even a slave giving birth to a child with Down Syndrome keeping the baby while her master ordered the baby’s death?
Wouldn’t life be easier if people stayed to themselves to have a good life in blessed naivete, because you can’t see these things happen? Like I said there is a difference. Do you want to make a difference? If you know Christ well you know He has a purpose for your life? Life always has meaning do you want a good life or a life with purpose?
