A somewhat awkward phrasing for this question, but yes I do. Going to church was our routine on both sides of my family. We routinely went to church as a family. Those were good days. While we called Faith Community Church home each Easter morning all the men in my mom’s family would help the men of the congregation to cook the food for Sunrise Service.
As a child I observed both sides of my family actively participate in nearly every aspect of the Church Services. Not everything was always roses, but the difficult times were why you had a church family, a community to lean on. I was saved at an early age because of that; I was 5. Nearly a decade or more ago in one Sunday School class maybe 8-12 of us in the class were discussing when and how we were saved.
When we all pretty much answered in unison; it was apparent we are the generation that grandparents and parents pray for for their kids. We each made our decisions because we saw the love of God in the actions of our elders most of our lives, but especially as children. Vacation Bible School was also a big piece to why we made our personal decision as well.
Practicing seems like a weird word to use in conjunction with any religion. There are words meant to belittle or possibly to be toyed with like semantics. Religion is not to be played with, one’s religion gives a purpose for our lives and what we do with that purpose is important. We still have a sin nature, but God being in our lives as the Holy Spirit gives us that extra nudge to do the right thing. The question is will you obey the nudge or listen to the sin nature.
Christians are not perfect people, but we strive to be more like God. I can’t speak to other religions necessarily, but we have to work each day to be who God wants us to be. He has a purpose for everyone if only everyone would listen to His words for their purpose…
