Handel

Due to some reorganizing and cleaning, my practice schedule was deterred a bit this week. I did still practice just not long I did last week. The idea I would falter was a thought last week, but I hoped I would stay strong. Standing and playing the piano is not very comfortable though. The important thing is I did get at least 3 days of practice in.

Tonight though, I feel like I got at least 2 days of practice in. I love music the different genres don’t bother me too much, but there are certain kinds of classical music that I like and don’t like. I must have gotten this from the Conservatory long before they closed up, but I don’t know how long I have had this book. However, as I went through the songs I have enjoyed being challenged by I realized the memory of the songs were still in my fingers. Literally I played for over an hour. There was some rust I had to shake off, but I was delighted to know how much I remembered. Even after at least 5 years from opening that book.

There have been times I have thought I will never play like I once did. We all change over time and deal with this in different ways. The keys felt really good today. I wish I had thought to actually record what I played, but I thought it would be rougher than it was practicing.

When God gives you a talent, use it and hone it. The Lord will give you strength to perform, but you do need to practice and not give up on it. The talent was given to you for a reason, don’t let fear and doubts give way. God does have the authority to take it away.
