Sometimes I think too much. I tend to over analyze to the nth degree. Losing Grandpa Leo as a teenager was a pivotal moment for me as an almost 14 year old girl. Life was one way for me, then all of a sudden things in my life were seen with a new prism.

This new direction led me to both a Social Studies Degree, but also a Technical Degree in Medical Coding. On top of a love for music that has always been grounded in my life. It took me a while, but I paid off my student loan for my BS degree and my courses in Medical Coding allowed me to pursue a short-lived Patient Care Technician job in Dialysis, yet the actual associates degree I posses still feels outside of my capabilities. I didn’t retake the test. Coding was too specific even for me and my overthinking.
Writing is my niche. My grandfathers are a great big piece to why I am the way I am. Why I need to remember them and their courses in life that brought me to my own.
I have tried to do other things and feel like I have fallen flat faced a few times. My sweet spot is writing about the intriguing stories God literally puts on my heart. History, which is a really broad topic, Music and the Bible and how it affects us everyday. Why do I keep coming back to this after failed concepts a few people come to mind. Moses, Miriam, Ruth, Rahab, Hannah. How many struggles did they have to go through, before the Red Sea, Boaz and Obed, the spies and Salman or even Samuel given to God.

A song from Troy the movie that came out in 2004. ‘Remember Me’, sung by Josh Groban continually lingers in the back of my mind. We still remember the name of an ancient city named Troy, because of two main reasons the beautiful face that launched a 1000 ships and the infamous horse built to destroy. We remember because of an old legend written down foretold what vanity, jealousy, and greed can do to a nation.
Two centuries have come and gone and there are names of men and women who have served our country. Will their names be remembered as Helen, Achilles and Hector have been?

Both of my Grandfathers served this country. Will their names be recognizable in 1000 years for their service? Will your loved ones be?
Here we have a day to remember all those who have served in the most difficult of circumstances to protect the United States of America. Who will remember the sacrifices of them and their loved ones so that we can live this amazing, privileged life of being an American? Who will be the Homer of our American Experiment to remember our Patriot Heros and their stories…
