Are you a leader or a follower?

This is a complicated answer for me. I don’t want to be a leader, but I don’t want to be a follower either. This idea makes me think of Moses. Why does it always seem to be that those who are leader worthy don’t want to be in those positions. Yet those who need to not have the microphone should not necessarily be followers, but students.

Life is short and we need to do what God has purpose for… in our lives. However, Moses grew up as a Prince of Egypt until his 40’s, then once he killed the Egyptian man he self-exiled himself to Midian for another 40 years. Each person is different and can’t be set to one set of do’s and don’ts. He was trained to be a Prince, a formal education and a military one. Yet he also stuttered or had some particular speech impediment, but when did that begin? I have read a book by Mesu Andrews that I love there is also a second book to finish the story.

What if something horrible happened to scare the boy into this impediment? What would that have done to his confidence? He was created by God to be a special leader, but did everything possible to not be that leader.

With 2000 years plus of going over the story of Moses and his Godly family, so many versions can be seen with many different lens. The attention to detail though, being saved from alligators by the royal daughter, the education. Facts don’t lie God made a way for this man to not be just a follower. He was the perfect imperfect man to lead Israel out of Egypt.

Honestly, there is a danger of being a follower and a leader. Especially, if you’re out of God’s will making decisions. I want to be where God wants me; either working in public or behind the scenes working to support believers in Christ.
