There are a few ways I can answer this question. Firstly, making sure my day starts off with prayer asking God for guidance. Secondly for me, I have been missing out on one of the passions God gave me; music. Performing, practicing with other musicians besides choir hasn’t been happening in my life. Before these last couple of surgeries I delighted in following up with nailing songs on the piano again. Not just easy songs, but my beloved choir accompaniment version of the extraordinary Battle Hymn of the Republic.
After my first surgery I knew being able to finish that song meant my hands had not lost the ‘magical fingers’ my boyfriend commented on. One of the very first vulnerable actions I took in less than a month of conversing was sending him my Heirlooms piano recording. I still get goose-bumps from his comments.
God gave me 2 amazing passions to use for His glory and sometimes I get too busy using one I forget the other. There are some wonderful times I get to bundle them up together and those are special memories. God has been showing me in little ways that I need to get back into my groove musically. While at the same time I feel the devil pitting my passions against each other. The way my arm tires easily has also contributed to being lazy in a musical sense. I was blessed back in March with that treasure trove of family history for my book and this writing that I did not expect at the time. Then some other things got in the way of this and that. Sometimes you just have to make the time so I intend to little by little
