The Gift of Love

May is a somewhat difficult month to be a non-married woman. I have been told at least twice that I can’t say the ‘s’ word. My boyfriend had to remind me not to refer to myself as single. Even though anyone who has seen me throughout the days and weeks would be sure I absolutely was not.

It’s sweet to be wanted and claimed by a sweetheart. The only sour thought is wondering if the Lord will bless us with future children. Apparently AOC or Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says women shouldn’t have babies anymore, citing climate change as the reason why. It’s a good thing I have my own moral authority on that subject. However, there are other more pressing concerns I have with childbirth.

Personally even with my worries about a healthy pregnancy if it’s in God’s will I know He will be with us. I won’t borrow trouble until the time comes, but I also know a family isn’t strictly created by blood. My thoughts stem from knowing too much about life and knowing just enough medical information from my classes. It’s simply conjecture on my part cause I like to analyze and over-analyze.

Knowing how much God feels about His people and procreating is a marvel. He gave Adam a wife Eve for more than just companionship. The actual science between a man and a woman is incredible. The inner workings of the reproductive systems working together is a piece of God’s plan for couples. If anything is off either bigger or smaller or altogether in a different order a baby can’t be made. The womb or wombs are mentioned 73 times within the bible. It is a complex little cocoon for a fetus. A womb was created for a reason to hold a precious gift of life; a fetus and give it protection.

We are all born sinners, yet God gives couples the pure joy of children who will all be given the choice to make a decision with their free will. God still allows those who don’t make that decision of salvation to still produce. A child can also make an impact on parents who do not believe. Think about that Godly parents can make an impact on their children, but children can also make an impact on their unbelieving parents.

For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

Psalms 139: 13-15

One day as a married couple I do hope we will enjoy this amazing phenomena. If the Lord gives us the ability to do so. Although right now, it would be the icing on our red velvet cake to just be together… the two of us.
