Sunday Night Thoughts

Since my Grandpa Leo died 23 years ago Sundays have been set aside for Grandma-time. Not exactly all of us at times, but we are pretty determined. There are not very many Sundays in all these years that she didn’t have at least one visitor. Even now being in a residence her room is usually crowded.

Today one of my younger 7 year old cousins was there and it’s not the same as being at the house. The house had a children’s room of sorts boys or girls that was their room to be exuberant kids in. So now that’s gone. Sometimes there’s one girl possibly 2 every other week. Or we have four kids and it’s not predictable when that happens except at family dinners.

This boisterous little girl decided I needed to be tied up. She can be very mischievous and this was one of those days. If it wasn’t for being at Grandma’s as much as some of us are I wouldn’t have the relationships I have with my cousin’s kids. This is where the direct correlation of how we were raised is how this new generation is also being raised. I marvel at the blessing and beauty of a large Christian family walking the footsteps of our parents and grandparents. Precisely how God envisioned the family to be.

Do you consider yourself to be blessed by your family? Why or why not? Whose choice is it if not yourself? What do these questions show you about your family?
