Where History Comes To Life In Song

While looking through past articles, one intriguing account stands apart. God used my passions and intertwined them to my surprise.

Angela Hunt has a wonderfully created Series of Beauty; all women from the Bible. I tend to immerse myself into each book I read and this series was no different. However, I didn’t share my thoughts with anyone about this book; ‘Esther, Royal Beauty’. The following Sunday morning after completing my first time through, it left an imprint of my heart.

The choir, for some reason, hadn’t practiced the week before. So when we were told the page number, I was awestruck! I had just finished the book on Esther and the choir special was ‘I Belong to the King”.

The double meaning hit me so strong my eyes were probably still glistening as I walked down to my seat. Esther was married to King Ahasuerus, but firstly she belonged to God-Adonai. This was a beautiful moment of words coming to life and it was very difficult not to choke up singing. This is not the end though.

Not long after another book came out. I came across ‘Reluctant Beauty, Bathsheba’. It’s hard for me to not get excited about reading a new book. Depending upon my schedule of duties and so forth I continue reading as much and long as I can. My curiosity just gets the best of me.

However, the Sunday after my read through, I found myself back in choir without having practice the week before again. I am uncertain how long in between, but I knew a couple of months had passed.

Looking at the choir song again, I was thinking this couldn’t happen again can it? But it was the same song a second time. Different story-line but same message. This time as I was thinking about Bathsheba and the words of the song a deeper understanding was overwhelming for me.

Again as Bathsheba was married to King David, she more importantly belonged to Adonai. To have this happen not just once but twice, God was working in my heart. The Holy Spirit was reminding me that these women and their unique accounts were examples for me. I, not necessarily an earthly Queen, just as they did, I also belong to the King!

A connection like this one is special. A very emotional and exciting way to feel God’s presence while using the gifts He gave me! How does the Lord speak to your heart?
