A Musical Experience

Our family getaway destination through the years has been Branson. One of the best finds, as in shows, was the beautiful Theater of Sights and Sounds. The first time we drove onto the property, we saw it from quite a distance, it was exciting. I didn’t go in that first time Dad just went in to get the tickets a couple of days early. The decor in the lobby matched the show currently on stage. Jonah was in its last weeks of its run, wherever we went people raved about this show.

This is the last year for this show, so don’t miss it!

We heard this over and over again!

Until we got to Branson that week we didn’t know this place existed. I got goosebumps from the presentation. The actors were amazing, the play was seamless, the music in perfect tune, and the familiar story-line was brought to life through their interpretation of speaking and singing. Real animals were used and you could smell a sort of stable smell within the theater not really a gross smell, but you did get used to it by the end of the performance. We could not have ended our vacation any better than we did.

A surprise even caught us off-guard. During the intermission, Dad and I were discussing that someone looked like a friend from home. Not long after my comment that guy waved at us. Sure enough it was the guy we farmed for back in Linton. We caught up with him and talked for a few minutes, we don’t usually find people we know in Missouri like that. Isn’t that a beautiful blessing! We got to share our first time at this theater with friends who were there for the first-time ever in Branson. That night for me… was special.

Watching it live is beyond words. However, I felt compelled to buy the movie versions of Ruth, and Joseph. It does not quite compare to being live, but the stories are still brought to reality.

The next trip a few years later, we were able to watch Sampson. Seeing and hearing the beautiful music rejuvenated me, musically speaking. My musically creative juices were stirred and my Mom played a few duets; me and my clarinet and Mom played piano.

Most recently as a couple of years ago my parents went back and watched Jesus. They got me a hoodie to bring back with them. It’s my third one now.

The Ministry of Sights and Sounds has been a very spectacular experience for my family.
