Not everything around us is complete doom and gloom. The new 118th Congress has made accountability very refreshing. Besides the 20 Republican Congressmen and women made their indelible mark of the year revelations have been consistent. The investigations have been wonderfully unveiling of issues that have literally been thrown to the bottom of the list and the back of the burner.
One of my favorite daily activities is to look through the Fox News videos and the Forbes Senate and Congressional Hearings. Representative Mary Miller from next door to my Hoosier state caught my eye Sunday evening. This 30 minute video was introduced by her and she reiterated that a group of colleagues co-sponsored legislation allowing for April to be named a National Faith Month.
The principle scripture for this endeavor came from the New Testament.
Pray for… all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.
1st Timothy 2:1-2
I also learned something else from this video yesterday afternoon. There is a Prayer Caucus; I had no idea. Like I said, God is still at work even today not all news is bad news. Which leads me to the main reason for this video. Several Representatives took part in this House Floor Celebration. The initiative has been exerted and it will be exciting to see what this new Family Caucus will be able to reach towards. As was the message the Family is where everything starts for children and trying to protect the nuclear family is important to creating healthy lifestyles for American children. Although the bully sitting at the Oval Office might still veto whatever comes from it it’s another tool. I don’t like being skeptical, but I also know taking a stand is the first step to making a difference.
Other scriptures were used in this presentation Deuteronomy 6 for the instruction of children within the family circle. Then the idea of edifying people with words and prayers from Psalm 18. Sometimes the verses in Psalms can be healing as well as calming, and all of that is rehabilitating for this country. It is what this Nation needs getting back to our Christian roots. I commend these men and women for showing up and standing up they will need a lot of these same measures while they are fighting this lawless current administration. They will need our prayers and support.
Truly it is nice to see Illinois has some responsible politicians thinking for the people. The abject horror that the Governor has unleashed on the state with cashless bail; shows his contempt for his own citizens. Not to mention the ungodly and sinister youth groups celebrating the devil even in Springfield the capital city. Yes I also know my Governor is not much better even being a republican I did not vote for him a second time. I remember seeing multiple times over the last couple of years the boldness and uncouth presentation right next to the Nativity Scene at Christmas time. To see that Christian ideals are being implemented in Congress even if they can’t do so in the state legislature shows Representative Miller’s influence.
As Thomas Paine’s title of his publication was rightly penned, ‘Common Sense’. We need some more of that right now in our country. The ‘Nuclear Family’ is now seen by culture as too regimented with no freedom. However, it is exactly the opposite. Parents know what is best for their children and freedom comes from knowing your limits before losing yourself to whims and lusts of the moment, time and the culture. While family can seem intoxicating at times; there are a lot of experiences they hold inside that have taught them hard-learned lessons. There is a give and take families have to learn in order to reclaim the beloved status of our nuclear families.
Seeing the nuclear family in working order on both sides of my family shows it still works. Tactics may need to change especially with the dawn of the social media landscape. Where there is a will, there is a way!
